Why Isn’t The Keyboard Set In Alphabetical Order?

We’ve always read the English alphabet in alphabetical order, but have you ever noticed that they are written randomly on a computer keyboard?

In the 1870s, an American named Christopher Latham Sholes originally invented the typewriter. He was born in the state of Pennsylvania in the US in 1819.

At the age of fourteen, he began working in a printing press. In a short time, he became quite proficient in printing. He later became the editor of a newspaper, but also worked as a printer.

One day his employees went on strike. He became very angry and decided that he would build a machine that would do the printing itself.

Christopher Latham Sholes published several books, the numbers of which were stamped. He then teamed up to create a computer with a friend that would make it easier to place numbers on a book’s pages.

The shape of this machine is similar to today’s typewriters. After the incident, Sholes heard of a typewriter on display in London.

It was shaped like a piano. Sholes began to build a simple machine. He made a man named Glidden his partner, who was very hardworking and smart.

Why Isn't The Keyboard Set In Alphabetical Order?

He made the first typewriter after a lot of hard work and effort in 1868. Pleased with his success after such hard work, he one day typed many letters to his friends.

The typewriter print was also neat and good. However, there were still many flaws that were gradually rectified. And finally, the typewriter is complete in every way.

Its inventors sold the manufacturing rights to the Remington Company, based in New York, and the Remington Company started producing typewriters. Since then, hundreds of types of typewriters have been developed, which can be used to type both lowercase and uppercase letters.

When printing documents, red letters may also be drawn under words or sentences. There is a part attached to pull the food on the long side that the line is finished.

Now they have become typewriters powered by electronic devices. There are some typewriters that do not even make a rattling sound. Emerging characters have become typewriters for the blind. In the beginning, when typewriters came on the market, their type was very ugly and they used only two or three fingers. The typewriters of today’s typewriters are very beautiful and are worked on with ten fingers of both hands.

Why Did Christopher Latham Sholes Keep The Keyboard Words Random Instead Of Alphabetical?

It is said that the words in the world’s first typewriter were in alphabetical order, but pressing the words together repeatedly froze its keys.

So to solve this, Christopher Latham Sholes developed a QWERTY sequence in which the most used words were moved to different places to avoid these problems.

This is because the keyboard is not in the alphabetical order.
