As beautiful as these large parrot species may look, Kea parrots are not very popular with people in New Zealand due to the bright orange underwings. Locals have described the birds as “naughty alpine parrots” and “clowns of the mountains”.

They are notorious for stealing people’s passports, removing the seals from car doors, and have been seen carrying backpacks, snowboards and boots while flying with smaller or smaller objects. They can also penetrate and destroy structures, spread infections and in some cases cause allergic reactions in humans. In addition, ants are known for being able to damage gardens with their exploratory techniques and for producing ants that are difficult to destroy.
