A Visit to Solar System …. Science Story

Visit to Solar System, are you kidding me.

The car stopped at a single isolated building.

Are we here to visit this building, asked Sooban?

First, let’s step into the building, said uncle Asif.

What is in this building, inquired Bilal, as there was darkness everywhere!

Sooban was the most coward among them all as he interrupted his uncle saying, are we here to see ghosts?

Oh, great uncle, you have brought us here to meet with ghosts, it will be fun, exclaimed Bilal with joy!

Ending the suspense, uncle Asif said, we have come here to see and learn about the solar system and not ghosts!

Uncle Asif and the boys entered the building. Upon entering, they were surprised to see the interior of the building decorated and giving the look and feeling of space; as there were expecting to see something similar to a normal structure. Uncle Asif got tickets from the counter and pointing towards a room, preceded towards it, to be welcomed by a guide.

Are you ready for the visit to the solar system, asked the guide and they all nodded with excitement!

A Visit to Solar System …. Science Story

The group followed the guide as he pointed out saying; we are leaving our city to enter the solar system. That is an elliptical, immeasurable wide area where the sun reigns. All the planets revolve around it. We are about to visit the first planet, Pluto. It is the outermost planet that revolves around the sun and saying this, he entered the room. It was extremely cold and there was white crush everywhere.

The guide announced we have named this room Pluto!

Guide uncle, what is the reason for it being so cold in here, asked Sooban, as he was shivering due to the cold.

The temperature on Pluto is minus 238 degrees Celsius. That is why, we have made it cold in here, answered the guide.

What is the purpose of the white crush, inquired Bilal?

Pluto is a desert of ice. For this reason, white crush is here to show ice on Pluto, replied the guide.

What about its size, inquired Amin?

It is smaller than Earth, the guide answered!

After completing the tour of planet Pluto, the guide went to the second planet room, Neptune.

Neptune Planet

This room is the planet Neptune. It is cold too and its temperature is about minus 218 degrees Celsius. It is full of hydrogen, helium and methane. Due to the presence of these gases, its climate is toxic and is not suitable for life. Usually, wind speed is about 2000 km/hour.

After a series of questions and answers, the guide led them to the third planet room, Uranus. This room is the planet Uranus. It also contains gases, rocks and ice. Hydrogen, helium and methane are major gases and again not suitable for life due to these gases.

In their general observation, the group noted that the rooms were decorated according to the characteristics similar to the planets. There were models of rocks everywhere along with the white crush. The artificially created fog looked spectacular through the rays of the light.

Thereafter, they reached another room.

Saturn Planet

Saturn is the second biggest planet of the solar system and it is known for its saucer-like structures. These structures consist of gases, stones and ice. It has a distinguished characteristic i.e. it is totally made of gases. It has 75% hydrogen and 25% helium and its density is less than water. Scientists say that a boat is required to leave this planet. This planet is cold, with an average temperature of minus 178 degrees Celsius.

After touring Saturn, planet Jupiter was next. This room was bigger than the other ones. This planet is 318 times larger than Earth. Due to its large size, the gravitational force is large and it becomes difficult to differentiate between space and the level. The external air temperature is too low. The temperature of the Planet is minus 143 degrees Celsius.

Planet Mars

A Visit to Solar System …. Science Story

Planet Mars was the next planet room which was decorated with models of rocks and trenches. The guide started telling them about Mars:

Since its climate is full of carbon dioxide, life is not possible for her tool! But some of its features are similar to our planet, Earth. Therefore, scientists believed that there were possible signs of life.

However, it was proved wrong later!

Guide uncle, why did they think so, Bilal asked?

NASA is an American agency. It is responsible for the nation’s civilian space program and for aeronautics and aerospace research. They placed their spacecraft on the surface of Mars. This spacecraft gathers data, takes pictures of rocks, trenches and different marks on Mars and sends all the information or data off Mars to NASA, which the scientists thought to be rivers that once existed. Some scientists even think that there was once life on Mars, Which, however, is not more, explained the guide.

Moving on, they saw a blue room, whereby, the guide asked the children, what do you think about this planet?

They looked at each other and then towards their uncle, who refrained from giving them any clues. They looked around consciously and then Amin said, I think it’s Earth!

Planet Earth

A Visit to Solar System …. Science Story

Very good, exclaimed the guide! From thereon, they followed the guide to another room, where the guide explained, this planet is covered with dark clouds. Its temperature is about 450 degrees Celsius.

Guide uncle, as you said, it is covered with dark clouds, there should be rain too, said Bilal!

Yes, it rains here, but it is not water that comes from the clouds, instead, acid rains from these clouds, explained the guide!

Now we are moving towards the last planet of this solar system, announced the guide.

Mercury Planet

The group reached the last room where the guide told them, that this is the last and closet planet to the sun which is Mercury. It is small in size i.e. 10 times smaller than Earth. It is always in front of the sun experiencing maximum temperatures and all types of rays. Since it is closer to the sun, its revolution around its axis is too slow. The time of its two revolutions around the sun is the same as the time in which the sun completes its three revolutions around its axis. It is due to its slow speed around its axis, the temperature difference between day and night is a thousand degrees.

A series of questions and answers were exchanged between the group and the guide. At the conclusion of the tour, uncle Asif announced, our visit to the solar system has come to an end.

The group thanked their guide for all the information and knowledge that he shared with them. On their way out the group entered their views and thoughts of the tour in the visitor’s diary and left all filled with excitement and knowledge of the solar system and it’s functioning.

A memorable visit to the solar system
